Notify MeArctotis Silverdust Pink is a showy, drought-tolerant perennial prized for its soft pink, daisy-like flowers with a dark central eye, held above a dense mound of silvery-green foliage. Flowering continuously from spring through to autumn, this variety adds long-lasting colour and textural contrast to dry, sunny areas.
An excellent option for borders, containers, and coastal plantings. Complements Mediterranean, cottage, and contemporary garden styles.
Thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Tolerates dry conditions once established and benefits from regular deadheading to encourage ongoing flowering. Space plants 30–40 cm apart for cohesive ground coverage.
Mature size: Reaches 25–30 cm tall with a spread of up to 40–50 cm, forming a compact, flowering mound.
Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage repeat blooming. In early spring, cut back any leggy or frost-damaged growth to rejuvenate the plant.
Deadheading: Regularly remove spent flowers to prolong the flowering season and enhance the plant’s appearance.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser. Avoid overfeeding, as this can lead to lush foliage with fewer flowers.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, Arctotis ‘Silverdust Pink’ is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods. Ensure free-draining soil to prevent root rot.
Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant. Keep an eye out for aphids on new growth and treat with insecticidal soap if necessary.
Disease Management: Fungal issues may occur in overly wet or poorly drained conditions. Avoid overhead watering, ensure good air circulation, and promptly remove any affected foliage to reduce the spread of disease.
