Notify MeAnemone japonica Pink is a perennial that gives a superb garden display with its neat, rose-pink, semi-double flowers and golden stamens. Great for adding a splash of colour. Adds elegance to the late-season garden with it's tall, slender stems that sit above attractive, dark green foliage.
It is a great choice for woodland, shaded, or cottage gardens. Its late flowering period makes it valuable for extending garden interest into Autumn. Prefers partial shade and evenly moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Space 50–60 cm apart to accommodate its spreading habit over time. Stands approximately 90 cm tall at maturity, with a spreading, layered form that creates movement in the breeze.
Trimming: Cut back spent stems to ground level in late autumn or early winter after flowering has finished to tidy the plant and promote vigorous growth in the following season.
Deadheading: Regularly remove faded flowers during the flowering period to encourage continued flowering and maintain a neat appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to support growth and flowering. An additional application of liquid feed during the flowering season can enhance blooms.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist, particularly during the establishment phase and in prolonged dry spells, as this variety thrives in moist but well-drained soil.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and caterpillars, which can damage new growth. Treat infestations promptly with horticultural soap or an appropriate insecticide.
Disease Management: Monitor for signs of powdery mildew, such as white, powdery patches on leaves, and treat with fungicide if necessary. Ensure good air circulation around plants to minimise the risk of fungal diseases.
