Podocarpus nivalis, commonly known as Snow Tōtara, is a low-growing, evergreen shrub native to the alpine and subalpine regions of New Zealand. This plant is admired for its dense, mat-forming habit and attractive foliage. The small, needle-like leaves are dark green, often with a bronzy tint in colder weather. In spring and summer, it produces small, inconspicuous flowers followed by fleshy, red to purple seed cones that add a touch of colour and attract birds.
