Hebe Sutherlandii - End of Crop

Hebe sutherlandii.  Pale, green-grey leaves form a small, densely-mounded shrub with white flowers appearing in spring. Position in full sun, with moist, well-drained soil. Suitable for coastal conditions. Use for low hedging, en masse or in general garden borders. Frost hardy. Evergreen. 0.5m x 1m.

Trimming: Lightly trim Hebe Sutherlandii after flowering to maintain its compact shape and encourage dense growth. Avoid cutting into old wood, as this can hinder regrowth.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes to encourage further flowering and keep the plant neat.

Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. A supplementary feed in late summer can help sustain healthy growth.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged. Once established, water during extended dry periods, particularly in summer.

Pest Control: Monitor for common pests such as aphids and spider mites. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil if they occur.

Disease Management: Watch for signs of powdery mildew and root rot. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew. Use well-draining soil to prevent root rot, and remove any affected parts of the plant. Apply fungicides as needed, following the product instructions.
