Coprosma Clearwater Gold
Coprosma Clearwater Gold is a striking evergreen shrub with vibrant golden-yellow leaves that last year-round.
Great for hedging or as a feature plant in smaller gardens and ideal for adding colour and texture to mixed borders, rock gardens, or as a standalone feature. Fits well in contemporary, coastal, and formal garden styles. It’s perfect for coastal gardens due to its salt tolerance and resilience to strong winds. Hardy and easy to care for, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil with moderate moisture. This plant is adaptable to various soil types, provided they are not waterlogged.
When planting, space Coprosma Clearwater Gold about 1-1.5m apart to allow for full growth without overcrowding.
Trimming: Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and encourage dense growth. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to promote healthy growth. Avoid over-fertilising, which can lead to excessive growth and reduce foliage colour vibrancy.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and in dry periods. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging. Once established, Coprosma is fairly drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free, but monitor for scale insects and aphids. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if necessary.
Disease Management: Rarely affected by diseases. Ensure good air circulation to prevent any potential fungal issues. Remove and dispose of any diseased plant material promptly to maintain overall plant health.
