Blechnum chambersii

Blechnum chambersii, commonly known as Lance Fern and also known as Austroblechnum lanceolatum, is a striking evergreen ground fern native to New Zealand. It is admired for its distinctive glossy, dark green fronds which can reach lengths of up to 1m. The fronds emerge as a rosette, presenting an attractive, radial symmetry that adds an appealing visual dynamic to any garden.

Lance Fern is highly versatile and hardy, thriving in a range of environments from full sun to partial shade. It prefers moist, well-drained soils but can tolerate poorer soil conditions and coastal sites. Given its low stature and lush foliage, Blechnum chambersii makes an excellent ground cover in shaded areas, underplanting for taller trees, or even a unique feature plant.
