Colocasia Maui Gold is a striking tropical plant known for its large, heart-shaped leaves with a unique golden hue. This eye-catching plant is prized for its dramatic foliage, which adds a lush, exotic feel to any garden or landscape.
It is perfect for creating a tropical oasis in the garden, whether used as a backdrop for smaller plants or as a standout specimen in a container. When planting Colocasia Maui Gold, space the plants about 1-1.5 metres apart to allow for their expansive foliage. Mature plants can reach a height of approximately 1.2 metres with a similar spread, creating a lush and full appearance.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Colocasia Maui Gold thrives in high humidity and can tolerate wet conditions. During dry periods, increase watering to maintain moisture levels.
Pest Control: Monitor for common pests such as spider mites, aphids, and caterpillars. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil to treat infestations. Ensure good air circulation to prevent pest build-up.
Disease Management: Watch for signs of fungal diseases like leaf spot and root rot. Ensure the plant is not sitting in water and improve drainage if necessary. Remove affected leaves and apply a fungicide if needed to control the spread of disease.
Winter: The tubers eventually rise to the soil surface, and must be reset deeper every couple of years to ensure winter survival.
