Hemerocallis Rose Cherub
Hemerocallis Rose Cherub is a charming daylily with soft rosy-pink, trumpet-shaped flowers and a pale yellow throat. Each flower lasts a day, but continuous flowering throughout summer ensures a vibrant display.
Ideal for borders, cottage gardens, or as low-maintenance edging, it adds elegance to mixed beds and wildlife-friendly spaces. It thrives in full sun to light shade with well-drained, moderately fertile soil and is drought-tolerant once established.
Space plants 40–50 cm apart for its clump-forming growth. Mature plants reach about 60 cm tall, with graceful flower stalks arching above neat, grassy foliage.
Trimming: Cut back spent flower stalks after flowering to keep the plant tidy. Trim foliage to ground level in late autumn or early spring to encourage fresh growth.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers daily during the flowering season to maintain a tidy display and promote further flowering.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring and again midseason to support robust growth and prolonged flowering.
Watering: Ensure consistent watering during dry spells, especially during the establishment phase and flowering period. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Pest Control: Look out for aphids and spider mites, which may affect foliage. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
Disease Management: Monitor for daylily rust (yellow or orange spots on leaves) and leaf streak. Remove affected leaves and ensure good air circulation. Avoid overhead watering to minimise fungal spread.
