Agapanthus Seafoam

Agapanthus Seafoam is a semi-dwarf form of agapanthus that has quite broad, strap-like foliage in fresh green. In summer pretty stems of pure-white flowers sit above the leaves. Looks best when planted in large drifts. Tolerant of sun or semi-shade and just about any soil. Copes with coastal conditions. Perennial.

Trimming: Cut back spent flower stems after flowering to maintain a neat appearance. Remove any dead or damaged leaves to promote healthy growth.

Deadheading: Regularly deadhead wilted flowers to encourage prolonged flowering and prevent self-seeding.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and again in mid-summer. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers as they can lead to excessive leaf growth at the expense of flowers.

Watering: Water well during the establishment phase and keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained. In periods of drought, water deeply once a week.

Pest Control: Be vigilant for snails and slugs, particularly in the spring. Use organic slug pellets or copper tape to protect the plants.

Disease Management: Agapanthus Seafoam is generally resistant to diseases but can suffer from root rot if overwatered. Ensure good drainage to prevent this. Yellowing leaves with brown spots may indicate a fungal infection; treat with an appropriate fungicide if necessary.
