Agapanthus Baby Pete

Agapanthus Baby Pete is a compact, evergreen variety with soft blue, trumpet-shaped flowers that appear on short stems throughout summer. Its neat, clumping growth habit and tidy, strap-like green foliage make it an excellent choice for small gardens, edging, or container displays. This variety is sterile, meaning it won’t spread by seed, making it a low-maintenance option for urban and landscaped spaces.

Perfect for modern, coastal, or formal gardens, Baby Pete thrives in full sun and well-drained soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal care. Space plants 20–30 cm apart for a dense, compact display.

Mature size: Grows up to 30–40 cm in height and width, forming a small, tidy mound.

Trimming: Cut back foliage in late autumn or winter once it has died back naturally. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves during the growing season to maintain a tidy appearance.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower stems after flowering to encourage further blooms and prevent self-seeding, especially if managing invasive tendencies.

Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and flowering. Avoid over-fertilising, as this can reduce flower production.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and dry periods. Established Agapanthus are drought-tolerant but will benefit from occasional deep watering during hot weather.

Pest Control: Check for slugs, snails, and mealybugs. Remove pests manually or use suitable deterrents.

Disease Management: Agapanthus are generally disease-resistant but may develop root rot in poorly draining soil. Ensure soil is well-draining and avoid overwatering.
