Thuja plicata - Field-Grown

Thuja Plicata, commonly referred to as the Western Red Cedar, is a big, evergreen conifer known for its beautiful, deep green, scale-like leaf and majestic, columnar growth habit.

It thrives in a variety of soil types, but likes a well-drained, damp habitat. This flexible tree can take both full sun and moderate shade, making it an excellent choice for a variety of garden applications. It is a hardy plant that is resistant to cold winters and is mostly untouched by pests and diseases.

Thuja Plicata is an excellent choice for building a tall hedge or privacy screen due to its big height and dense foliage. It can also be used as a windbreak in larger areas.

It can reach a height of 20-30 metres when fully mature. However, because of its slower growth rate and responsiveness to pruning, it can be managed at a lower size if necessary.

Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
