Podocarpus henkelii - Field-Grown

Podocarpus henkelii, often referred to as Henkel's Yellowwood or Long-leafed Yellowwood, is a magnificent evergreen conifer that is admired for its long, slender, grey-green leaves that cascade downwards, creating a captivating, weeping effect. Its tall, pyramidal form contributes further architectural interest to your garden.

It flourishes in a variety of well-drained soil types and can accommodate both acidic and alkaline conditions. It favours full sun to partial shade and, once established, is drought tolerant.

It makes a unique specimen tree that draws attention in any landscape. It can also be used to create tall screens or hedges, offering privacy and an appealing aesthetic simultaneously.

Podocarpus henkelii can reach an impressive height of 20 metres at maturity, depending on its growing conditions. However, with appropriate pruning, it can be maintained at a smaller size or shaped to suit your garden's design needs.

Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
