Hydrangea Annabelle is robust throughout the growing season and attracts pollinators, enhancing your garden's ecological diversity. Whether as a standalone feature or part of a mixed border, the Hydrangea Annabelle promises to be a delightful and enduring addition to your shaded garden spaces.
Hydrangea Annabelle thrives in partial to full shade, making it a perfect choice on the shady side of the fence, behind the house, or under trees. It prefers well-drained, moist soil, ensuring versatility and adaptability in various garden settings.
With a growth height of up to 2m and a spread of approx. 1.5m, it provides a substantial, eye-catching presence.
Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
Trimming: Prune Hydrangea Annabelle in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Cut back stems to about 30 cm above the ground to encourage strong new growth and large flower heads.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower heads throughout the flowering season to encourage continuous blooming and maintain a tidy appearance.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring as new growth starts. An additional feed in midsummer can support robust growth and prolonged flowering.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the establishment phase and dry periods. Water deeply to ensure the roots receive adequate moisture, particularly during hot, dry weather.
Pest Control: Inspect for aphids, spider mites, and scale insects. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if they occur.
Disease Management: Monitor for signs of powdery mildew and root rot. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew. Provide well-draining soil to avoid root rot and remove any affected plant parts promptly. Use fungicides if necessary, following the product instructions.
