Not In Stock

Apricot Fitzroy has exceptional flavour and reliability, producing large, firm fruits that boast a deep golden-orange hue. The flesh is smooth and juicy, offering a delightful blend of sweetness with a hint of tartness, making it ideal for both fresh consumption and a variety of culinary uses such as baking and preserving. The tree produces attractive pinkish-white flowers in early spring, adding ornamental value before the fruit sets.

Fitzroy apricot trees are known for their vigorous growth and productivity, making them suitable for a wide range of garden sizes. They can be trained against a wall or fence in smaller spaces, thriving in sunny locations where they receive at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. They perform best in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and require regular watering during the growing and fruiting seasons to ensure a bountiful harvest. Cross-pollination may enhance fruit production, although many Fitzroy is self-fertile. Regular pruning will keep the tree healthy and productive by maintaining an open structure that allows light to penetrate and air to circulate freely. Grows to a height of 4m and a spread of 2.5m.

What is a bare-rooted tree?

Bare-rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground and are dug up when they've become dormant in the winter. The soil is shaken from their roots and they are bundled up with their roots packed in moist material to prevent dehydration during transport.

What are the benefits?

  • Less packaging and plastic waste are involved in the growing process and transportation.
  • The plant has more root mass as the roots have not been constricted and twisted by a pot.
  • They are easier to carry and plant as they are extremely lightweight.
  • Bare-rooted trees are cheaper as they do not come with soil and pots.
  • Planting bare-rooted trees in the winter follows the natural pattern of the seasons.
