Acer Orangeola - Bare-Rooted

Acer palmatum dissectum Orangeola is a standout variety known for its exceptional colour and elegant weeping form. Its leaves display a dynamic range of colours starting with a bright orange in spring, transitioning to a deeper reddish-orange in the summer, and finally turning a stunning shade of crimson red in autumn. This continuous change in foliage colour makes it one of the most sought-after Japanese maples for garden enthusiasts.

Orangeola performs well in hot climates and thrives in partial shade but can tolerate full sun in cooler climates, provided it is well-watered. It prefers moist, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic pH. The tree's cascading growth habit makes it an excellent choice for dramatic garden focal points or as a shade tree. Also looks great in rock gardens, or large decorative containers.

Reaches a mature height of about 2.5m with a similar spread.

What is a bare-rooted tree?

Bare-rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground and are dug up when they've become dormant in the winter. The soil is shaken from their roots and they are bundled up with their roots packed in moist material to prevent dehydration during transport.

What are the benefits?

  • Less packaging and plastic waste involved in growing process and transportation.
  • Plant has more root mass as the roots have not been constricted and twisted by a pot.
  • They are easier to carry and plant as they are extremely lightweight.
  • Bare-rooted trees are cheaper as they do not come with soil and pots.
  • Planting bare-rooted trees in the winter follows the natural pattern of the seasons.
