Arthropodium cirratum ‘Matapouri Bay’ is another stunning variety of the more commonly known Renga Rena Lilly, found naturally throughout costal areas of New Zealand. This variety has broad short leaves and puts on a fabulous show of tall white flower stalks throughout Spring and Summer. This plant thrives in most soils and proves an exceptional foil for that dark shady spot under a tree in your garden. Protect from snails when they are young and they will reward you for years to come. Grows to a height and width of 60 x 60 cm.
Bay Laurel is an evergreen tree that is highly valued for its aromatic leaves which are uses as a culinary herb for seasoning in many recipes. The foliage is glossy, dark green and the flower is small and yellow. The Bay is a very durable plant with many uses. Looks brilliant as a hedge and used often for topiary . Tolerates coastal conditions and is frost hardy.
Pittosporum Golf Ball is a neat forming, rounded New Zealand shrub. This plant is ideal for adding structure and architectural interest to the planting scheme and also makes a great low hedge. Small purple flowers appear in late spring and early summer with a swee, honey-like scent. Frost hardy and likes a spot in the full sun and partial shade with a moist, well-drained soil. Gets to a height of 1m in height, but can be trimmed to retain a smaller shape.
