Carex Testacea - This hardy evergreen grass will impress you with its bright sunset-orange tones throughout the year. Its clean mounding habit makes it suitable for mass planting or large landscaping projects in either hot and dry or cold and exposed conditions. Alternatively, carex look great planted with flaxes, astelias, heucheras, hebes and cabbage trees. This versatile grass is also popular as a feature container plant.

Astelia chathamica

Astelia chathamica

A New Zealand Native of the wet, peaty soils in the Chatham Islands. Chathamica is one of the larger astelias,  growing to 1.5m in height. Has broad, stiff, erect silvery leaves. It flowers in October and November followed by bright orange fruits in February to June. Great as a feature plant in mass plantings, or used in contrast to other plants with dark foliages.

Cordyline australis - Cabbage Tree

Cordyline australis, commonly known as Ti Kouka/Cabbage Tree is a tall tree that, once mature, is a standout for its trunk structure. Cordyline australis can be grown in coastal, swampy, drought, or sun and wind-exposed locations. In summer, it will produce large flowering spikes, which often attract native birds. Cabbage trees are effective planted in groups and are easily established. Good for shelter and riparian planting, providing bank and soil stabilisation. Grow to 10m height x 3m width.
